Engage Community Privacy Policy and Terms of Use
By signing up for or accessing content within the Engage Furman Community, you agree to the following:
Content and Conduct
Content posted to the community must comply with Furman University’s generally accepted community standards as outlined in policy 072.1 as well as any other applicable university policies. Words, photos and videos must not contain the following:
- Material that is patently offensive, vulgar or obscene
- Material that promotes harassment, bigotry, hatred, violence or harm of any kind against any group or individual
- Material that is defamatory or libelous
- Material that includes a photograph of another person that you have posted without that person’s consent
- Material that exploits people in a sexual or violent manner
- Material that contains nudity or links to an adult Web site
- Material that promotes information that you know is false or misleading or promotes illegal activities
- Postings must respect all property rights of other individuals and organizations
- You may not post, modify, distribute, or reproduce in any way intellectual property, creative works of all kinds, copyrighted material, trademarks, or other proprietary information belonging to others without first obtaining the prior written consent of the owner.
- Engage is primarily a non-commercial site. This does not include casual sales of items from one individual to another or promotions of events or fundraising activities for non-profit organizations. Examples of prohibited commercial activities include the following:
- Direct advertising to, or solicitation of, any individual member to buy or sell any commercial products or services
- Material that involves contests, sweepstakes, barter or pyramid schemes
- Material that includes a commercial logo
- Involves the transmission of “junk mail,” “chain letters,” or unsolicited mass mailing, instant messaging or “spamming”
If these rules are not followed
Furman University reserves the right to remove any and all content on the site without warning or notification. Furman University reserves the right to remove any user account without warning or notification. Users may flag content that the community deems inapropriate.
Privacy and Ownership
Content posted on the community may be accessible by all members of the community and possibly even by the general public and should be treated as public information. Please make careful consideration of any content you post on this network. Furman University reserves the right to use any and all information within the community site as it sees fit. Furman University will never sell or share this information with a third party.
Disclaimer
In no event shall Furman University be liable to you or any third party for any loss, damage or personal harm arising from your use of the Engage Furman Community site – your use of this site is done at your own risk and you agree to indemnify and hold Furman University harmless from any claim or demand. Furman University is not responsible for the conduct of any member of the site. Furman University is not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate content posted on the site.
Furman University assumes no responsibility for the accidental deletion of any material within the Engage Furman Community or any error, omission, interruption of service, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of member communications.
Furman University is not responsible for any damage to any computer equipment belonging to member in viewing, playing or downloading any materials connected with the community. Furman University does not approve or endorse any linked Web site on the Engage Furman Community – when you access those sites, you do so at your own risk.
